Your AI Agent Doesn’t Need to Be Hacked

Your AI agent doesn’t necessarily need to be hacked for an attacker to manipulate it.

An attacker could place malicious instructions inside content that an AI agent is expected to process, such as an email. If the agent treats those instructions as trusted commands, it could potentially access information or perform actions using its legitimate permissions.

This is known as indirect prompt injection, and it highlights one of the major security challenges surrounding agentic AI.

AI agents can access emails, databases, APIs, customer information and third-party tools, which means organizations need visibility into what agents can access and, critically, what actions they’re actually taking.
